The Wahoo has been described as the fastest fish in the ocean. While
some may dispute this claim we believe it is true. Wahoo are usually a loaner and often travel
deeper than most fish. However, we almost always know when we hook one, especially a large one.
The amount of line a Wahoo can take is unbelievable. This fish fights deep but as soon as you
think you have figured him out he surfaces and jumps out of the water like a ballistic missile.
A Wahoo can jump distances of 20 feet or more, but guess what, he will then dive depths that are
only limited by the amount of line on the reel. The Wahoo is in the Mackerel family and resembles
the Kingfish but the zebra like blue and silver stripes make the Wahoo a much more beautiful catch.
The meat is firm and very tasty, especially when smoked. The crew of the Captain Hook always uses at
least one downrigger (for deep water fishing) incase they cross paths with this truely worthy
opponent. You better hope you have the stamina to fight this one to the end becuase he will give
you your money's worth!
